Good People, our new favourite Instagram account is run by the artist Maria Qamar, who uses Pop Art to paint satires of ‘Desi culture’ (Desi means a person of Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi origin who lives abroad).

Much of her art is specific to her Desi identity, but the depiction of a young woman growing up with urban and Western influences that sometimes conflict with parental desires and cultural traditions rings true for young Nairobians, too.
