Everyone loves Netflix (it is universally accepted) and now we have Showmax in Kenya plus a new streaming service dubbed My Choice TV coming soon. With all these options, sometimes these services lack what we want to watch.

Maybe –  just maybe – TubiTV will have it. Launched in 2014, Tubi TV today has 200 content partners, including Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount Pictures, Starz and others, bringing its catalog of shows and movies to over 50,000 titles. However, not all titles are available at any given time — the selection is rotated and updated to make the content feel fresh.

What I loved:

First of all, the mere fact that it is free and no subscription fee for life got me hooked.  The experience was also amazing. You’ll get a pretty standard interface with scrollable rows of movies sorted by topics and genres, with a rather interesting row called Not on Netflix – which, as you might guess, is a selection of shows and movies you won’t find on Netflix. I thought that was cute.

TubiTV offers a relatively limited selection of big-budget, well-received films. I know you are asking for this part: well, the Streaming quality was very solid across most of the different platforms we tried.

#GotGPicoftheDay Long before ever setting foot on set my team and I create incredibly intricate animated storyboards of all action scenes and musical montages in a movie. For me, preparation is the most important aspect of #filmmaking. This is a way to design the film and work out kinks so you have a very clear roadmap to follow. It's also helpful in showing the actors what they're doing in a scene when we're shooting a few seconds at a time surrounded by huge swathes of blue screen. Here I am with the actors on set showing them one of the sequences in the interior of Ego's planet so that we're all working towards a common goal. #GotG #gotgvol2 #actors #film #movies #instagood #guardiansofthegalaxyvol2 #directing

What I disliked:

TubiTV is still held back a bit by its content library and may be a tall order for anyone who cannot stand ads. It was weird to see some ads that are not even in English.

There are a few bugs like when you open a vide and close it before buffering, it plays in the background. The Facebook log in only on a Google made OS was a miss. Come on guys!

All in all, I must admit it is a supplementary addition to all the streaming services already available in the Kenyan market.
