Its pretty safe to say that Kendrick Lamar is having a GREAT year! His album DAMN. which was released on April 14th of this year was certified platinum, his single ‘Humble’ was number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and now he is the face of Nike ‘Cortez’.
The Compton native took to his twitter page to tweet, “Cortez. Since day one. #teamnike” along with a picture of the rapper performing in the shoes.

The Nike Cortez first debuted in 1972 and soon after their release became a fundamental shoe in hip-hop style and culture, notably in Los Angeles. The shoe became a representation of the vibe and fashion of the city. The shoe is remembered for its white leather, blue detailing colorway and red Nike swoosh.
So once the shoe was re-released this year, who better than the King of Compton himself to serve as the face of the sneaker! Kendrick Lamar styled the sneakers in a white tee, over sized pants and a bandana while performing during this year’s MTV VMA‘s.
