The Coca-Cola company, through their music flagship show coke studio, has merged Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa into one, bigger, better Coke Studio Africa 2017.

Coke Studio Africa hosted an exclusive viewing party at Kiza Lounge, Nairobi, in celebration of the premiere of highly anticipated 2017 edition of the Kenyan produced Pan-African music show, this year dubbed Coke Studio Africa – 2017.

Here are some key pointers we took home from the premiere!

  • Coke Studio Africa 2017 promises to be a melting pot of music talents bringing together renowned music producers and top-notch artists drawn from various parts of the continent.
  • With 11 episodes, Coke Studio Africa – 2017 will deliver and spark more music collaborations beyond the show.
  • The first 8 episodes will be brand new episodes with episode 9 being the season’s highlights.
  • Episode 10 already dubbed the ‘Global Fusion Edition’ will feature the show’s international guest star: Jason Derulo alongside Kenya’s Dela.
  • The season finale will be a special Christmas episode.
  • Each one of the show’s episodes will have 5 segments.
  • The second segment will be a Remix/Fusion, a section that will cleverly bring back childhood memories fondly known to Kenyans as TBT. Here artists will select ‘throwback’ music and perform their own rendition of it.

  • The other segments will include Covers, where paired artists do each other’s songs, the Cultural Exchange, the Big Break platform and then performances of original tracks will bring the episodes to a close.
  • Some of the renowned names this season include Bruce Melodie from Rwanda, Tanzanian artists: Rayvanny, Izzo Bizness and Nandy, Ugandan artists Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo, Ykee Benda and Sheebah, Khaligraph Jones and Band Becca from Kenya, Sami Dan from Ethiopia, Nasty C, Busiswa, Mashayabhuqe from South Africa, Youssoupha from Democratic Republic of Congo, Runtown and Yemi from Nigeria.
  • The show airs on Citizen TV Kenya every Sunday from 8pm with recaps on the YouTube page, Coke Studio Africa.
